Roles and Responsibilities 

• Assign ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and ASA codes and modifiers as appropriate and abstract pertinent information from patient records 
• Experience in researching and applying coding rules and regulations 
• Ensures optimal reimbursement of all cases in compliance with CMS policies and regulations and adheres to Official coding guidelines 
• Implements Physician query process when medical records are inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear to assign codes 
• Work as part of a team and achieve quality and productivity per process standards 

Observes and reports unusual patterns in clinical documentation at a facility and Physician specific levels  

Required Skills and Qualifications 

• Life Science graduates or BDS, BHAMS, BPT, BPharm/MPharm  
• Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, Human anatomy, and physiology  
• AAPC or AHIMA certified medical coder  
• Minimum of 1 years experience in anesthesia coding or 2-3 years experience in multi-specialty General surgery coding 
• Ability to use a PC in a Windows environment including Microsoft Apps like Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, etc. 
• Must be self-motivated, responsive, and committed to communicating with supervisors  
• Have a positive and respectful attitude
