Roles and Responsibilities 

• Manage the Coding team including but not limited to: hiring, training, managing & evaluating team performance, and conducting professional development plans.  
• Ensure that the productivity and actions of the Coding team meet and support the overall operational goals of the department and institution.  
• Design, develop and execute standard policies and procedures, standardized queries, and strategies targeted to improve the quality of documentation and overall quality of the process. 
• Helping the team members in resolving process-related queries. Guiding Team Leads, SMEs, and other team members in performing their functions. 
• Client Relationship Management & implementing standard operation procedure, manuals to facilitate smooth functioning of the process, ensuring conformance to SLA, and working on Business Development for new projects.
• Managing HIPAA & Compliance from an Operations perspective, Taking care of improvement in coding compliance and data quality.
• Inform and educate coding staff or other departments (as needed) of regulatory (CMS/Medicaid) and 3rd party payors and implements policy/guidelines to ensure compliance with changes. 
• Analyze and execute compliant coding based on, 3rd party auditor alerts, OIG, CMS, etc. 
• Conduct investigatory meetings of potential work rule violations.  
• Counsel Coding team on actions required to meet minimum performance requirements. 
• Provide or arrange for necessary knowledge-based resources required by the Coding team to meet quality and production standards.
• Review individual performance for annual appraisal. 

Required Skills and Qualifications 

• Graduate in life sciences or BAMS, BHMS, BDS, BPT, BPharm/Mpharm 
• Looking for Coding Manager with a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in ED coding and currently handling ED projects 
• AAPC or AHIMA certified like CPC, CIC, CCS  
• Excellent leadership ability 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
• Minimum of three (3) years experience supervising/managing coding in a medium to large team
• Have sound knowledge of Official Medical Coding and Clinical Documentation Guidelines 
• Familiarity of automated/computerized encoders, groupers, abstracting, databases, billing systems, and medical records
